YORUBA GIANTS ATTENDED A PEACE SUMMIT BETWEEN

THE YORUBA ALLIANCE and ISOKAN YORUBA

Chief Adebanjo encouraged Yoruba dignitaries who came to the Nations Capital last summer to attend the wedding of Dr. Wahab Dosunmu’s daughter to call for a peace summit between Egbe Isokan Yoruba and The Alliance of Yoruba Organizations & Clubs. The meeting included representatives from both groups.

The honorable C.O. Adebayo, former governor of Kwara State represented the voice of the Yoruba community, appealing to both groups on behalf of the distinguished General Alani Akinrinade, Dr. Wahab Dosunmu, new senetor-elect, Lagos State, Senator Bola Tinubu, governor–elect, Lagos State, to settle whatever differences that might exist between the two groups. They all agreed that what we need is to be working together as a team to find relief for our people at home. They emphasized the importance of unity among the Yoruba, particularly at this crucial moment in history.

Both Mr. Amolegbe and Dr. Gbadegesin were given equal time to discuss what went wrong. After this, the floor was opened to other representatives from both organizations. Dr R. Sekoni and some of his cabinet members were on hand to represent Isokan, while Mr. Franklin Akinkoye, chairman and Mr. Zac Shodiya, the Secretary General of the Yoruba Alliance were present to represent the interest of The Yoruba Alliance. The meeting lasted several hours, after which both groups broke bread for the first time since 1997, shook hands with polite hugs and posed for pictures.
